The Annual Conference of the All Ukrainian Network of PLWH is a General Assembly
of Network members with following goals:
- Presentation of the Annual Report by Chairman of the Co-ordination Council;
- Presentation of Annual Reports on activities in regional offices;
- Election of new members of the Co-ordination Council;
- Official admission of new members to the Network;
Additional Main Objectives in 2003:

- Proposal of Network’s candidate for Country Co-ordination Mechanism;
- First session of the Co-ordination Council in its new formation;
- Conclusion of agreements on co-operation with particular regional offices;
- Final conclusion and signing of Status of Regional Representative of the
Network by elected candidates;
- Training in: Local partnership; Club work; Public relations.

Specific Outcomes of the Conference for the Network

More Awards |
- Presentation of the Annual Report of the All-Ukrainian Network of PLWH
by the Chairman of the Co-ordination Council Vladimir Zhovtyak. Participants
were updated on the structure and current status of the organisation as
well as with pilot activities and projects in 2003.
- Presentation of reports by regional representatives of the Network. Each
region presented their activities and also defined needs and future plans.
Every region has its own specific needs. However, the financial & technical
needs and the problems of co-operation with state institutions are common
to all regions. Future plans were defined in line with the needs of specific
regions and the main strategy of the Network (creation of community centres,
home-based care, social help and further development of activities). It
was decided to set up office utilities for regional offices of the Network
and accomplish programme activities through governmental structures.
- Rotation in membership in the Co-ordination Council took place: Olya Panfilova
(Kiev) and Evgeniya Krivosheeva (Kiev) were replaced by Vyacheslav Bazhenov
(Simferopil) and Svetlana Moroz (Donetsk), who got majority votes. Both
new members of the Co-ordination Council presented their plans and strategies.
- New members of the Network were officially welcomed, the list of members
was updated and the mechanism of recruitment of new members of the Network
was simplified.
- Artur Ovsepyan (Odessa) was elected as representative of PLWH in the Country
Co-ordination Mechanism, supported by the Network.
- Meeting of the Co-ordination Council in its new formation took place.
Main topics discussed :
- Official approval of regional offices of the Network and conclusion of
the agreement on co-operation with regional partner organisations of the
Network;
- Signing of the Status of regional representative of the Network by elected
candidates (Candidates were elected by Regional Assemblies before the
conference);
- Presentation of delegations from Kyrgyzstan (Shonkorov N.), Moldova
(Verdesh Y.), Russia (Elena Odinec). All named delegates continued after
the conference about their experiences - on exchange trips to 2 regional
offices of the Network (Odessa and Poltava) and to the Central Office
in Kiev.
- The Conference was attended by Douglas Gardner, UN Resident Coordinator,
Jantine Jacobi, UNAIDS Country Co-ordinator for Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus
and Dagmar Horn, Program Officer of UNAIDS Ukraine. Douglas Gardner and
Jantine Jacobi expressed their support for the All Ukrainian Network and
the promise of the UN system to take an active role dealing with HIV/AIDS
problems in Ukraine.
Assessment of Training:

Workshop |
- Local partnership (trainers Malichevskiy
V. and Malichevskaya L.). The training was aimed at clarifying of NGOs within
a system of organisations and institutions and the definition of main processes
of influence of NGO on society. Training was attended by 27 participants.
They assessed the training session giving 4.8 points (from 5) overall, trainers
were given4.8 points, training methods by 4.3 points. «Local Fund
Rising», «Social Process», and «Structures of Social
Relations» were the most popular topics.
- Club work (trainers Anichin E. and Anichina
R.). Training concentrated on main principles of work in clubs by using
club “Kviten” from Lviv as a case study. Training was attended
by 38 participants. Participants assessed the training session giving 4.8
points overall, trainers were given 5 points and training methods 4.8 points.
«Functions of club management», «Art therapy, method of
solving psychological problems», «Therapeutic factors of art
therapy», «Development of club activity», «Group
process and group dynamics» were the most popular topics.
- Public Relations (trainers Geydar L. and
Nagornaya N.) – 32 participants. The main goal of this training session
was to introduce participants to the most important and widely applied public
relations concepts with particular attention on how this relates to NGO
activists, volunteers and employees that work on HIV/AIDS issues. Participants
awarded the trainers, training methods and the overall session 5 pointss.
«Planning and Providing Press-Conference» and «Writing
of Press Release» were the most popular topics.
